Prior Knowledge Assumed

Concepts that would be useful to have a grasp of prior to taking this course are listed here:

1. An understanding of point groups and the symmetry elements used in deducing point groups.
2. A basic understanding of periodicity and lattices.
3. Appropriate mathematical understanding – imaginary numbers and polar coordinates will be used.
